#COLT 1911 A1 FOR SALE INSTALL#
I cannot tell from your pictures, but I suspect milling was done to the front of the slide to install the target blade as well. This is unfortunate, because to install such sights, the rear dovetail would have to have been milled out. But the worst thing is that someone has installed an adjustable rear target sight and has also replaced the front blade sight. On the down side, I don't believe the grips are original. The pistol appears to be in quite good condition: the hammer and trigger appear to be original, the bluing is still nice and doesn't appear to be redone the lettering is crisp and sharp and shows no sign of being buffed (which would be the case if the gun had been re-blued) there seems to be some minor pitting at various places, both on the frame and on the slide, and at least one chip in the blue on top of the slide, but these do not detract considerably from the value of the gun.

Definitely saw service, but was well cared for and will make a fine addition to any collection of WWII guns or 1911s. A rare Colt 1911 variant that isn’t in such perfect shape that you wouldn’t want to shoot it a bit. This is just a really nice example of an original as issued Colt 1911A1 from the start of WWII. Magazine is in very good condition and works fine. Magazine is a proper WWII type, made by Risdon, and marked with an R on the magazine floorplate toe. We did not remove the grips because the screws are very tight, and the screws appear unturned. Grips are in very fine condition, with no chips or cracks. A prior owner’s social security number is lightly etched on the left side of the frame. Gun is mechanically excellent with a bright bore with strong rifling. Gun retains approx 70%-75% of its original Parkerized finish, but the Parkerizing has thinned and faded over the years, giving the gun a pleasant overall grey appearance. Small parts such as grip safety, magazine release, hammer and barrel are blued. This gun falls into the early range of Parkerized Colt 1911s, and thus retains its original Parkerized finish. Barrel is marked “Colt 45 Auto” as well as a “P” proof mark on left side. Left side of frame is proofed with a P, as well as inspector initials of WB.
